On Saturday 26th January, the weather was perfect – if a little chilly – for transporting this 17ft model aircraft carrier to the Ashworth Barracks! The large, yet fragile model was based on HMS Implacable, a carrier built for the Royal Navy and used during the Second World War. It was donated to the museum by the family of the late David Hall. Click here for more information on the model itself.
We used an 18t DAF CF with air suspension to move the huge model on the eight mile journey from Barnby Dun to the Ashworth Barracks in Balby. Many thanks to our volunteer driver for the day, Paul Ridsdale!
The day was an incredible success, and we were proud to be involved in such a great cause in our home town, Doncaster.
